Cornwall Solo Grass Track Club
News Release – 25th May 2008

Cornwall Solo Grass Track Club held a successful and highly competitive second round of the club championship at St Erme on Sunday with 48 races completed in just over 3 hours.

The solo classes saw no fewer than 12 different race winners during the day, with no one rider dominating the action. Jason Prynne took two wins and a second in the Experts heats to claim the class honours ahead of Rod Melksham in second and Anthony Queripel in third. Queripel claimed the 500cc final from Prynne second and Kevin Williams third and went on to claim the last race of the day, the Open final ahead of John Weeks second and Nick Mallett third.

Richard Warry took two heat wins in the 250cc’s take first place ahead of Simon Warry second and Ben Ilsley third. The 350cc’s saw Wayne Barrett and Tom Perry claiming a first and second each in the first two heats. Bad luck struck Perry in the third heat with a broken chain leaving the way clear for Barrett to take the top spot with Perry second and Jon Shanes third.

Richard Warry put a great start to good use to claim the Restricted Licence holders final ahead of a rapidly closing Chesney King second with Richard Andrews third. Andrews claimed the Invitation race from Keith Snelling in second and King in third. Ted Ede claimed the Pre 75’s as mechanical problems affected the other riders in the class. Derren Harris claimed the only heat which saw all 4 entrants at the tapes.

The 1000cc Sidecar field saw just 6 outfits start the meeting and 4 finish it. Neil Owen/Kevin Colborne were the class of the field winning six races out of six to take the Experts, 1st Open and 2nd Open classes. Lee Hicks/Phil Collyer claimed a full set of 2nd places to take 2nd over all in all three classes. Phil Syms/Gareth Bemister took third in the Experts race, shared third with Stephen Palmer/Shaun Hoskin in the 1st Open and third in the 2nd Open.

In the Youth classes Edmund Best took the Auto Cadet honours with a 5 ride maximum score ahead of Jack Dummett second and Mary Gribble third. Callan Phillips took the Cadets by three points from Max Cornes second and Edmund Best third.

The Junior class went to Jack Cornes with James Shanes second and Zach Wajtknecht third. Lewis Leah was dropped one heat to Darryl Ritchings to take the Inters taking class honours ahead of Ritchings second and Josh Dingle third.

The clubs next race meeting will be on Sunday 22nd June at the same venue.
