Meeting Preview 20 May 2007

Cornwall Solo Grass Track club host their second meeting of the season on Sunday (27th May) at Truthan Farm, St Erme with a 68 race program and around 100 competitors entered. The meeting features a full program of Solo, 1000cc Sidecar, Youth and Quad racing.

Local interest in the Solo classes will be on Roger Lobb who makes a welcome return to the 500cc’s after a few years away from the sport. Class winners at the clubs first meeting Steve Leigh and Matt Budd also return in a bid to strengthen their position in the club championships. Matt Etherington makes the trip down from Kent and will offer stiff competition to regulars Chesney King, Sam Foley, Jon Shanes and James Charlesworth in the 350cc’s.

The 1000cc sidecar class features 14 entries including local drivers Andy Gribble, Phil Syms, Jo Sturtridge, Jamie Bree, Lee Hicks & Stephen Palmer and passengers. Neal Owen & Myles Simmons make the trip from Carmarthen and Kent respectively to set up a competitive race meeting for the sidecars.

A small entry of quads will compete in 5 races spread throughout the race program. Over 30 youth entries, including a full entry of 12 in the ultra competitive Inters class, promises to serve up plenty of close racing which each class taking to the track for 5 heats each.

The venue will be signposted from the A30 Carland Cross Roundabout. Admission is £6 for Adults, £3 for Senior Citizens and Children Under 14 Free. Practice starts at 11.30am with racing at 1pm. Refreshments and Toilets will be available on site during the day.
