Meeting Preview - 16th July 09 Jul 2006

Cornwall Solo Grass Track Club look forward to the fifth of seven meetings planned at Truthan Farm, St Erme on Sunday (16th July) with a 48 race program.

In the solo classes local 500cc riders Wayne Barrett and Kevin Williams, making a welcome return to the sport, will be looking for class honours while club regulars Gavin Horsburgh, Andrew Cocker, Shaun Pascoe and Steve Pearce should all feature strongly in the 24 rider solo field. Plymouth Devils speedway rider Lee Smart, unbeaten in his two appearances in club meetings, this year misses out with Plymouth racing at Mildenhall on the same day.

In the 1000cc Sidecar class 9 outfits will take to the track, with Fraddon's Phil Syms making a welcome return to the track after his crash at Wimborne last month. He will be joined by local drivers Joseph Sturtridge, Jamie Bree, Lee Hicks, Wayne Westaway & Stephen Palmer. Out of county competitors include Gary Ball, making his 1000cc debut having previously raced in the solo classes, Tim Warren and Pete Shaw

A strong youth entry of 24 across the four classes promises plenty of close racing.

The venue will be signposted from the A30 Carland Cross Roundabout. Admission is £6 for Adults, £3 for Senior Citizens and Children Under 14 Free. Practice starts at 11.30am with racing at 1pm. Refreshments and Toilets will be available on site during the day.

A number of the regular youth competitors in CSGTC meetings recently travelled to Tallington, Lincolnshire for the first round of the ACU Youth National Championship achieving results underlying the strength of youth racing in the West Country.

Redruth's Bill Gribble claimed victory in the Cadets and Junior MX65 classes. Summercourt's Joshua Dingle claimed second in the Juniors and Chesney King also from Summercourt took third in the Inters.
