Meeting Preview 16 Apr 2006

Cornwall Solo Grass Track Club will be looking to put the setback of last month's rained off meeting behind them as the season finally gets under way on Sunday with the second of seven meetings planned at Truthan Farm, St Erme.

With a number of other meetings running across the country just 16 entries have been received for the solo classes. Competitive racing expected with revisions to some of the race formats to ensure that every race counts. An increase in youth entries bodes well for the future of the sport.

In the solo classes local 500cc riders Adrian Rowe and Wayne Barrett will be looking for class honours while club regulars Gavin Horsburgh, Andrew Cocker, Shaun Pascoe and Steve Pearce should all feature strongly.

In the 1000cc Sidecar class 10 outfits will take to the track. Competitive racing is expected with local drivers Phil Syms, Joseph Sturtridge, Lee Hicks, Andrew Symons, Wayne Westaway & Stephen Palmer joined by Alfie Pearn, Jim Pearn, Tim Warren and Pete Shaw from out of the county. Sym's passenger Mark Truscott makes his debut as a driver in the restricted class.

The venue will be signposted from the A30 Carland Cross Roundabout. Admission is £6 for Adults, £3 for Senior Citizens and Children Under 14 Free. Practice starts at 11.30am with racing at 1pm and refreshments will be available on site during the day.
