Meeting Report 16 Oct 2005

Cornwall Solo Grass Track Club were frustrated by the weather in there attempt to run the final meeting of the season on Sunday at Burthey near Summercourt.

Rain started falling at the start of practice and continued on and off through the afternoon until a heavy down pour left parts of the track under water.

In the racing that did take place Wayne Barrett and Adrian Rowe claimed wins in the 500cc Solo heats, Rowe having passed Channel Islander Anthony Bougard for his win. In the first running of the final Rowe and Bougard made the gate but both drifted wide leaving room for Barrett to pass on the inside exiting turn two with Rowe and Bougard sliding off in the tricky conditions. Rowe did not take his place in the re-run won by Barrett who chased down Bougard for 3 laps before passing to take the win.

In the Sidecars Stephen Palmer/Shaun Hoskin rounded off there Restricted Licence Championship winning season with a win just piping Joseph Sturtridge and Nick Diment on the line. Early race leaders Justin Westaway/Mark Truscott were forced to pull out after an engine failure. Tim Warren/Martin Sheppard took third.

In the 1st Open heats Ric McAuley/Phil Stoneman claimed a win ahead of Phil Syms/Mark Truscott in second and Darren Wilce/Gareth Bemister in third. Early race leaders Sturtridge/Diment pulled out after losing visibility when passed by McAuley. Lee Hicks/Phil Collyer claimed victory in the second heat ahead of Clive Stoneman/Roland Broomfield in 2nd and Palmer/Hoskin in 3rd.

The youth classes completed two heats before with Bill Gribble claiming victory in both the Auto Cadets and Cadets class. Joshua Dingle won the Juniors with Stefan Maunder taking the Inters.
