Meeting Report 17th July 2005 17 Jul 2005

On Sunday the Cornwall Solo Grass Track Club hosted the fifth round of the club championships at Truthan Farm, St Erme.

A closely matched solo field produced close racing between the leading contenders. Kevin Williams claimed victory in the first final of the day, the 500cc after passing Wayne Barrett on the final bend. Jason Prynne took 3rd with Adrian Rowe 4th after falling and remounting. Rowe recovered to claim both legs of the Experts class ahead Prynne and Williams. Barrett took victory in the Open final after passing Rowe on the final bend.

Paul Bray won the Invitation Class ahead of Shaun Pascoe and Andrew Cocker in third. Horsbough won the Restricted Licence Holders ahead of Paul Bray and Steve Pearce. Pearce won the 350cc class ahead of Jody Hodgson and Sam Fowley.

Ian Parsons suffered a fall when his throttle jammed open when lying in third place. Jessie Lamb's claimed fourth in both the Restricted and Invitation classes on her first visit to Cornwall. Mike Bowden took the Pre 75 honours ahead of Adrian Kessel and Nigel Hibberd. Tristan Orchard's claimed 6th in both the Invitation and Restricted finals on his 500cc debut.

In the sidecars, Steven Palmer/Shaun Hoskin claimed the Junior victory finishing ahead of Darren Wilce/Gareth Bemister and Joseph & Steven Sturtridge. The First Open heats were marred by a pile up involving 4 outfits. Steven Palmer spun whilst leading leaving Clive Stoneman/Roland Broomfield little choice but to make contact Palmer's outfit. The contact caused Stoneman to flip over with the closely following Matthew Tyrrell/Shaun Yates and Pete Shaw/Phil Stoneman hitting the over turned outfit. Fortunately know one suffered serious injury although Matt Tyrrell and Pete Shaw retired from the meeting as a result. Lee Hicks/Phil Collyer took victory in 1st Open Final ahead of Steven Palmer and Alfie & Terry Pearn in third. Clive Stoneman repaired his outfit in time for the second open. Ric McAuley/Phil Stoneman won the 2nd Open Final ahead of Stoneman with Darren Wilce/Gareth Bemister in third.

In the Youths Bill Gribble was unbeaten for a fourth consecutive meeting in both the Auto Cadets and Cadets classes. In the Auto's Jordan Pethick claimed second ahead of David Abraham. In the Cadets McAuley Whitfield took second by a single point from Tyler Govier. Joshua Dingle was unbeaten in the Juniors with Danny Whitfield in second and Jack Jones third. Jake Quintrell was forced to retire from the meeting with machinery trouble. Stefan Maunder won the Inters ahead of Lewis Leah with Chesney King third.
