On Saturday the Cornwall Solo Grass Track Club hosted the second round of the ACU Youth National Championship at Truthan Farm, St Erme under bright blue skies.
60 riders from as far afield as Yorkshire and Kent competed in a 48 race program which enabled local riders to test their abilities against the best in the UK.
Local rider Sam Jacobs was unbeaten the Auto Cadets with another local Bill Gribble claiming 2nd with Max Clegg of Calder 3rd. Gribble turned the tables on Jacobs in the Cadets with Lancashire's Jack Shuttleworth third.
In the Juniors Joshua Dingle claimed 5th overall with Jake Quintrell 8th, class honours went to Ryan Staveley of Lancashire.
The Inter's class produced 6 heats worthy of any National status meeting, with three of the top riders in the British Under 15's speedway championship competing. Lancashire's Joe Haines claimed 4 heats to fellow Lancastrian Adam Wrathall's 2 to claim class honours. Swindon's Charlie Saunder's claimed third ahead of the first local Chesney King in 4th, Stefan Maunder 5th, Lewis Leah 7th, Daniel James 9th and James Charlesworth 11th.
Alex Evans claimed the Senior class ahead of Andrew Whittaker with Daniel Glover claiming the International 125 class.
In the Moto-X classes Ayrton Aldridge, Junior winner Ryan Staveley won the 85 Inters and John Robinson's consistency earned him class honours in the 85 Seniors.

On Sunday the Cornwall Solo Grass Track Club hosted the fourth round of the club championships at Truthan Farm, St Erme.
In the Solo's Adrian Rowe was unbeaten in the 500's, Experts and Open classes after a number of close races with Jason Prynne early in the meeting before Prynne was forced to retire from the meeting through illness. The highlight being the 500 final when the pair swapped places several times through the four lap race.
Paul Bray claimed 3rd in the 500's final, 1st in the Invitation and 2nd in the Restricted behind Andrew Cocker who later claimed 3rd in the Open final. A big crash in the Open heat for Bray resulted in him being airlifted to hospital for precautionary checks but was later released.
Steve Pearce won the 350's ahead of Ian Parsons. Mike Bowden won both heats of the Pre 75's and took 2nd in the Open final.
The Sidecar competitors found the shorter than usual track to there liking with close action and plenty of passing throughout the day. Jim Pearn and Paul Uglow from Devon claimed the Junior class ahead of local crews Steven Palmer/Shaun Hocking and Joseph Sturtridge/Steven Sturtridge.
Clive Stoneman/Roland Broomfield were the class of the field winning all 4 heats and both Open finals. Other heat winners were Joseph Sturtridge/Steven Sturtridge and Lee Hicks/Phil Collyer in the First Open and Wayne Westaway/Mark Courtney & Jim Pearn/Paul Uglow in the Second Open.
Hicks/Collyer claimed 2nd in the First Open final and were denied a place in the Second Open final when a puncture whilst leading the in their last heat ruled them out of contention. Alfie & Terry Pearn claimed 3rd in the First Open and 2nd in the Second Open on their unique Ducati powered outfit. Steven Palmer/Shaun Hocking claimed 3rd the Second Open final.
Darren Wilce on outfit number 30 had an off day without his usual passenger Gareth Bemister who had been competing in a meeting in Kent on Saturday Evening. Tim Warren/Craig Caddy were forced to withdraw from the meeting after Warren hurt is shoulder in the First Open final.
In the Youth Classes, Bill Gribble followed up success in the Youth National with class honours in the Auto Cadets and Cadets classes. Jordan Pethick claimed 2nd in the Auto's with Nathan Stoneman claiming 2nd in the Cadets.
Joshua Dingle claimed victory ahead of Jake Quintrell in the Juniors. The Inters produced some of the best action seen all season with Lewis Leah claiming victory with 4 wins out of 5 despite a heavy fall in the first heat, Stefan Maunder took the other heat. 2nd in class went to Daniel James with Maunder 3rd and Chesney King 4th.
