13 Jun 2005
Local youth riders take on the best in Britain when the Cornwall Solo Grass Track Club host the second round of the ACU Youth National Championships on Saturday at Truthan Farm, St Erme, near Truro.
Around 50 riders will compete in a 48 race program. The entries include three riders, Adam Wrathall, Joe Haines and Ben Taylor, who made their Millennium Stadium debut ahead of the British Speedway G P last weekend in a number of demonstration races promoting the Under 15's speedway championship.
Local riders chasing class honours include Sam Jacobs and Bill Gribble in both the Cadets and Auto Cadets classes., Joshua Dingle and Jake Quintrell in the Juniors and Chesney King, Lewis Leah, James Charlesworth and Daniel James in the Inters.
On Sunday the club host a round of the club championship for Adult and Junior classes at the same venue.
Despite a depleted entry due to a large number of events taking place nationally plenty of close racing is expected in all classes with around 40 races on the program.
The venue will be signposted from the A30 Carland Cross Roundabout.
Admission is free on Saturday and £5 for Adults, £3 for Senior Citizens and Children Under 14 Free on Sunday. Racing starts at 1pm and refreshments will be available on site during the day.
